Our Brand: Pursual (Pur-su-al). It means the act of following or seeking. For us, that means chasing the sight of a rare bird, a majestic animal, or a sunset that takes your breath away. Whatever sparks your wonder, we help you follow it.
Born during the 2020 lockdown, Pursual started from a place of frustration. We found the world of optics unnecessarily complicated and gatekept by high prices. We knew there was a better way to bring the world into focus.
We’re here to demystify the jargon and remove the barrier of high costs. We believe seeing the world in detail shouldn't be a luxury.
Our Mission: To get you closer to nature...without costing the earth.

The "No-Jargon" Guide to Optics
At Pursual, we think choosing binoculars should be easy. You shouldn't need to be an expert to get the right optics. We've listed and broken down the main specifications and what those numbers mean for your next adventure!
Read our detailed guide8x or 10x - How much closer you are. At 8x, a bird 80 metres away looks like it’s only 10 metres in front of you.
8x42 or 10x25 - The "Light Gatherer." The bigger the second number, the more light gets in. Big lenses (42) are great for dawn/dusk; small lenses (25) are great for pocket-sized hiking.
279ft @ 1000yds - The "Wideness." A wider field of view makes it much easier to "find" a moving bird in the trees without hunting around.
15mm - Comfort for Glasses. If you wear glasses, you want this to be higher (15mm+) so you can see the whole picture without taking your glasses off.
5.25mm - Brightness. This is the little circle of light you see in the eyepiece. The larger it is, the brighter the image will feel in low light.
Glass Type - Crystal Clarity. This is the "gold standard" glass that ensures your image is a perfect circle and sharp from edge to edge.
Extra-low Dispersion - True Colors. It stops that weird "rainbow glowing" (fringing) you see around dark objects against a bright sky.

We purchased a range of the top selling binoculars from cheap to expensive and from branded to unknown, we then used and compared them extensively to work out what we liked and didn't like and what we thought was important in providing value for money.

This was the hardest part of the development stage. We experimented with many options such as prism quality, waterproof level, magnification vs lens size and many more attributes.

In doing this, we believe we are able to deliver a package that comes at a great price vs performance, that is accessible to most customers with no gimmicky attachments, no unnecessary components, just solid decent optics that will do exactly what you need them too without fail.

Spotting the Stars of Your Garden: A Guide to the UK's Most Common Birds

Have a question ? We are here to help.

I’m new to birdwatching. Which model should I start with?
For most beginners, we recommend the Forefront 10x42. It offers the perfect balance of magnification and light gathering without being overly technical. If you’re looking for something more compact for hiking, the 8x32 models are lightweight and easy to carry all day. Check out our [Beginner’s Guide] for a deeper dive.
What does your 10-Year Warranty actually cover?
Our warranty covers all manufacturing defects and mechanical failures. We build our optics to survive the British weather, so if your binoculars fail due to a defect in materials or workmanship, we’ll repair or replace them. We want your "pursual" of nature to be a long-term journey, not a short-term purchase.
Can I use Pursual binoculars while wearing glasses?
Absolutely. All our models feature "Twist-up" eyecups and generous Eye Relief (the distance between your eye and the lens). This means you can keep your glasses on and still see the full, clear image without any dark rings around the edges.
Are these binoculars truly waterproof and fog-proof?
Yes. Our optics are Nitrogen-purged and O-ring sealed. This prevents internal fogging when you move from a warm car to a cold bird hide and ensures that a sudden British downpour won't ruin your optics.
Why don't you list dozens of technical lens coatings like other brands?
Because we believe you should focus on the bird, not the brochure. We use premium glass (like BaK-4 prisms and ED glass) that rivals top-tier brands, but we prefer to describe the result: a brighter, sharper, and more colorful view. We handle the physics so you can enjoy the nature.
